Hens love to free range and get immediately busy scratching in the Fall leaves and eating bugs in the grass. This is a win-win situation because they are thriving on the added natural food so don’t need as much store bought food.
This jack-o-lantern wasn’t the yummy treat that they expected.
Our lake side home has an abundance of natural preditors that travel by land (raccoons and opposums)and by air (hawks, owls and osprays) which have killed our hens in the past. Now we keep the hens company when they are free ranging in the yard. They are fun to watch!
